Bride

We met at work. It's probably the most un-glamorous way to meet someone but I was always drawn to Pete.

The first time I spoke to him was over the phone. I got transferred to the 22nd district and I called to get my assignment. He was working a desk at the time. He apologized and asked why I would choose to go to that district and implied through his snoody comments that there must be something horribly wrong with my common sense.

He was really kind of rude...but I sensed that he really had no filter and just says things as they come to his mind. He was always nice to me and our relationship was very platonic at first (even if I thought he was very handsome). Pete was probably the only person that understood when I was telling a joke and (most importantly) would laugh.

What drew me to him is that I've always sensed that Pete has a little spark of adventure in him. He may not have noticed that he had it himself but I saw that there was something there!

Groom

I have to admit, it took me awhile to write this. Jas gave me almost daily "reminders" to finish my half of our story. I honestly struggled with this because our story doesn't have just a set date in time.

You see, there were so many times we should have met throughout the years that to say 2011 is our beginning, isn't the full truth. You could take it back to the late 90s even since we had mutual friends and we just never hung out at the same time. Or you could fast forward a few years to when I was a fairly new cop, riding around 12th and Susquehanna making sure my cousin was safe while living off campus at Temple and constantly seeing a car with an EMT tag and wondering what genius would park their car over here.

2011, we finally meet... just a few years over a decade too! Now that I think about it, it makes a lot of sense that we show up late to parties.

The phone call...

There's a misunderstanding, I was not rude... I was honest and honesty is the best policy. When Jas called and said she was just assigned to the 22nd, my response was "I'm sorry to hear that." She then told me she chose the 22nd and was transferring from a nice and slow district so of course I questioned "Why would you do that?" See that's not rude.

Though as I said before, honesty is the best policy and the life we have is honestly the greatest thing to happen to me.

I am still having a hard time though because this isn't our story but just a glimpse of our first chapter. Stay tuned!
