Bride

I kept thinking that he might propose on our trip to Grenada...but Thursday came and went, Friday, Saturday...by the time Sunday came around, I was convinced that no one in their right mind would wait that long. We were scheduled to take pictures one night and I kept thinking, "jeez, he's really sweaty". I know it was kind of muggy but he was sweating profusely. I didn't realize he was going to propose, I was taken completely by surprise. I'm glad he waited. It was beautiful...I was looking over the water at sunset and the photographer told me to turn around. I was ecstatic when I saw him on his knee holding a ring. Then I ugly cried.

Groom

Okay, yes we all now know I was sweating... a lot. I even grabbed a washcloth from the room (hey I said it was a lot).

I brainstormed several ways to make this proposal happen. I researched how to get the ring through security without her knowing (the box inside a pair of American Flag socks did the trick!)

Should I do it at a candlelight dinner on the beach? No, after the crab attack in Barbados I don't want to risk it.

We are doing a lot of scuba there, should I do it while diving? Sandals even offered a photographer to be there. That sounded great except I couldn't actually ask her, bring the ring, or kiss her so that was out (little did I know she wouldn't hear a word I said anyway).

I knew I wanted a photographer there to capture the moment so when we got on property, I practically begged her to let's book a photoshoot immediately. She and the employee settled for Sunday! Okay I said to myself, now to find a way to give the photographer a heads up. That opportunity presented itself when I offered to go grab some beverages for us.

The night before our big day, as we passed by the photo center, I told Jas I was going to run in just to confirm our appointment and she should check out the gift shop. It turns out our photographer was scheduled to go on vacation on Sunday but when he heard of my plan, he had to be the one behind the camera! We worked out a plan, as the sun is setting, he will have her look out at the water and that will be my cue.

Today is it! I have spent the past few days finding reasons to check on my pair of socks in my carry on and now I can finally relax... or can I? How am I supposed to fit this box in my pocket without it obviously showing?? I'm nervous she is going to figure it all out before I can pop the question!  Thankfully the photographer was smart and a lot of the poses were him saying "Pete relax against that tree, even put your hand in your pocket to look more natural", so I got to cover up the obvious box!

Finally the moment has arrived, she is facing the sunset... God she's gorgeous... I'm a lucky man!

I take a few steps back, pull out the box, kneel down and wait for her to turn my way!
